Success of a Style Icon in The City That Never Sleeps: Audrey Hepburn
In the city that never sleeps, Audrey Hepburn is a household name. Many may know Audrey from her iconic films such as Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Sabrina, and Funny Face. These roles launched her career to stardom as well as cemented her in Hollywood history. Her personal style in those films have left an imprint on fashion for generations to come. Many would call her a style icon, but in my mind she is a trailblazer within high-fashion society. I admire Audrey’s mix of simplicity, sexiness, and sophistication in her bold fashion choices.
Scanning through magazines, fashion publications, and endless reviews and accounts of Audrey’s life, the LBD (Little Black Dress) was something she always wore best. The little black dress was a staple piece in her wardrobe on the set of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Her character, Holly Golightly, was spotted strolling the streets of the city in her LBD matching with pearls and a tiara completing her ensemble. This statement outfit secured my love for the Big Apple. New York piqued my interest from the start because of Holly Golightly’s creative approach to high-fashion couture. I believe style tells a story. Audrey’s style, and the style of her movie characters, is something that can never be stolen within this industry. She has a sense of style all her own. New York will always have a special place in my heart because of the impact that Audrey had on my life, and the lives of many others.
City life reminds me that you can find excitement in any city you're in, not just New York. Cities all over the world hold stories that are never told, on pavement on streets that are just waiting to be explored. Explore your world and see what you find.
