New Year, New Look: Amazon Edition
Give your wardrobe an upgrade.
With the start of a new year on the horizon, many of us are anxiously anticipating a new beginning. 2020 has thrown a lot our way, which makes a fresh start (and a new look) especially appealing. In a pandemic world, in-store shopping isn’t as convenient as it once was. This makes Amazon, and its Prime two-day shipping, preferable now more than ever; but with pages and pages of options, it can be overwhelming to scroll through unless you know exactly what you’re looking for. Luckily, I’m putting my own Prime addiction to good use, and compiling my recommendations for Amazon’s fashion section below. And, believe me when I say, they truly have it all.
Activewear
Yes, getting back into fitness is a cliche new year’s resolution, but somehow we still repeat this sentiment each year. Regardless, there is no wrong time to get back on your fitness grind; obviously, that includes investing in new activewear. The blue leggings below are from ColorfulKoala, and are widely regarded as a Lululemon dupe. They come in a super soft material, and don’t slide down when you're exercising, making them a definite yes from me. This cropped workout top has a built-in sports bra, and comes in a comfortable material as well. It could be worn for lounging around as athleisure, as well as working out. Lastly, something I was surprised to find on Amazon were workout sets. This one has a unique ribbed material and comes in a ton of colors.
Jewelry
In my opinion, you can never go wrong with some classic gold hoops. Luckily, Amazon is stocked with plenty of options. I prefer the small, chunky look but if you search “gold hoops” on Amazon, you can scroll for hours. Amazon also has a unique selection of necklaces available. I’m liking the layered look right now, but there’s a wide selection of cool pendant necklaces as well. Since the majority of Amazon’s jewelry is fairly inexpensive, it’s the perfect place to look if you want to try some trendier pieces.
Cold-Weather Gear
Whether you’re expecting snow this winter or not, we all love to get cozy during the colder months. With that in mind, once again, Amazon is my go-to shopping destination. This Adidas beanie is adorable and goes with a variety of winter outfits. With no signs of the teddy-bear coat trend going anywhere anytime soon, I love this gray cropped version. It’s super cozy, and I am not over the idea of practically wearing a blanket and having it be a fashionable look. Finally, these pink sweatpants are lined, which makes them perfect for either lounging around or running errands during the wintertime. With so much unknown right now, we can definitely afford to invest in some cozy gear to prepare for whatever 2021 has in store.
Accessories
Am I the only one that is super excited to see that claw clips are back? Growing up, I saw them as the hallmark of someone who had their life together. So naturally, I had to jump on the bandwagon as soon as I saw they were in style again. For $13.98, this set is a steal. Another trend I’m glad to see is making its way back is small purses. This black crocodile-patterned mini purse is the perfect find on Amazon. It also comes in a bunch of other colors including burgundy and white. Lastly, even in the winter, I love a good pair of sunglasses. These octagon-shaped sunglasses with gold rims are trendy yet classic, making them a great addition to your wardrobe for the new year!
Tops
Tops are another area of apparel where Amazon really shines. They offer so many products in this category that you definitely have to go in knowing what you're looking for. That being said, this white top is perfect for Zoom meetings. I love the sheer polka-dotted detail on the sleeves, but it is still opaque on the body of the shirt, making it appropriate for work or family events as well. I also found a plaid “shacket” (shirt-jacket) that would be adorable layered over a plain tee or tank. I personally love the green color, but it comes in other plaids as well. Definitely check out the top section on Amazon fashion if you have something specific in mind.
Pants
Last but not least, Amazon certainly has its fair share of pant options. While I normally prefer to try pants on in person, the Prime two-day shipping and easy returns make all the difference here. Plus, I have been on the hunt for a good pair of patchwork jeans for months. I love the loose strings and jagged edges on the ones below. They definitely have an effortless vibe that is otherwise difficult to pull off. Another resurgence in recent months are leather leggings. These are stretchy and comfortable like normal leggings, but the leather-look material adds a unique twist.
