Back to Basics: Transitioning Your At-Home Wardrobe For a Night Out
Being home for so long, you may have forgotten how you used to dress for a night out. To make the transition a little bit easier for you once you’ve decided you’re ready to get dinner or drinks with your friends, I’ve compiled a few ways to transform your at-home basics for a night on the town.
The Basic: Biker Shorts
Biker shorts are commonly seen worn Kardashian-style, underneath an oversized tee or sweatshirt, but paired with a cute jacket and layered jewelry they can easily be dressed up for a “chill” night at the bar.
The Basic: Sweatshirt / Hoodie
Who says you need to leave your hoodie at home? Pair a cropped sweatshirt (like this one) with a floral skirt and some fun accessories for a totally revamped look.
The Basic: Cozy Cardigan
Cardigans are probably some of the most versatile pieces around. Whether you’re wearing yours with sweatpants or over a sundress, your look is instantly made cuter the minute you throw this piece on.
The Basic: Solid Tank
Your basic tanks have probably been getting a workout since the weather has gotten warmer, but sometimes it’s just easier to grab the first thing on top of the pile. Tie up your solid tank, throw on a trendy pair of jeans and strap on your heels - it’s time for margaritas.
The Basic:
Comfy Crop Top
This one can basically be worn with anything. I love a good denim skirt, but a midi skirt or straight-leg jeans will also make for an effortlessly chic look as well.
The Basic: Oversized Tee
You know that shapeless t-shirt you’ve been throwing on for the past 5 months out of convenience? Give it a new life tucked into your favorite pair of high-waisted shorts along with a few layered necklaces.
The Basic: Joggers
Yep, you read that right. If you’re not quite ready to kiss your comfiest loungewear goodbye, find a more casual location and throw on your joggers with a cropped tee or fitted tank and some shiny jewels.
The Basic: Lounge / Paperbag Shorts
You may not have been wearing paperbag shorts all quarantine-long, but they’re a great transitional piece. Easy, light and comfortable - what more can we ask for?
The Basic: Sports Bra
If you’re feeling edgy and inspired by Sporty Spice, a sports bra can be paired with pretty much any high-rise bottom you own. Just make sure to check your destination’s dress code with this one.
