The Dreamer's Guide to The Ultimate It-Girl Picnic

Spring is here! A recluse from the frigid cold and unprovoked weather that’s swept throughout most of the world over the course of the past few months. But not to worry, the season of fresh bloom and pollen allergy has fallen upon the northern hemisphere, and C&W is here to tell you how to make the most of it.

Picnics have become somewhat of a staple in activities to do with your friends and family during the spring and summer months. It’s so easy to drag out a blanket, some flowers, and put on some cute outfits at a park to lounge around, talk, and eat.

Outfits

Obviously, if you’re picnicking in the slowly-heating-up spring sun, you’re going to need an outfit that’s breezy, but still cute for pictures. I’ve been obsessed with camis and flowy pants recently, but cute jeans and a bandana top or cropped blouse top are just as cute!

My favorite places to get cute tops are Isabelle’s Cabinet and Revolve, especially superdown.

Pair the outfit with a pair of white sneakers, like these from PUMA, and you’re ready to go!

Decorations & Activities

Obviously, half of the battle is making the set-up look as pretty as your location, and as you.

While you’re probably primarily there to eat, it’s still fun to set up a cute little blanket and put some flowers and decorations around to make it feel a little more planned out. Target, Walmart, and Homegoods sell small potted fake flowers that you can put around your blanket. Grab some decorative pillows to match the color of the flowers, some scented candles, and a wooden try to set everything on while you’re eating.

A cute basket also always makes it easier; set it in the middle of your set up and put all of your food in it. Amazon has a bunch of cute wicker baskets for cheap that are big enough to hold your meal for the day.

As for activities, there’s so many cute things you can do when you’re not eating, My personal favorite is to do an art picnic, where you grab a paint palette, two canvases, and go for it! Paint the flowers around you, paint your friend, or just sit and be inspired.

I’m obsessed with this adorable viral gouache paint set from HIMI that’s super easy and super portable for your art picnic.

You could grab a speaker, play some classical music (or rap, whatever you’re feeling. The sky is the limit) and dance for a while to run off the calories from your meal.

Food Recipes

Speaking of food, what are you going to eat on this picnic? I mean, isn’t that the point?

If you’re going for a more “brunchy” vibe, you could whip up some homemade beignets or croissants, bring some grenadine and make some shirley temples. A nice bottle of light wine or cider could also act as a staple decoration piece. You could even bring tea bags to pair with a meal of muffins or pancakes.

Bites by Liv has one of my favorite recipes for vegan, protein filled waffles.

For lunch, some tea sandwiches paired with a light drink could be a great way to lead into a grand meal that would last you for hours. Since the internet’s recent obsession is charcuterie boards, that’s definitely the way to go. Grab some fancy cheese, crackers, and fruits and decorate a charcuterie board for another fun picnic activity!

There’s also some super delicious, more simple foods that might be a little more grab-and-go. A baguette and some butter could be a good place to start, paired with some of your favorite fruits and snacks.

Picnicking is such a cute and fun way to hang out with your friends in the summer, and it’s corona friendly! Start picking out your picnic stuff now because, mark my words, it’s going to be the warm season’s activity of choice.
