Throw a Parisian Tea Party Like Marie Antoinette
Dreaming of afternoon tea? You can transport yourself to Versailles to recreate the CLOTHES & WATER Issue Nine cover image in your own home with this ultimate checklist.
The Checklist
The Desserts
Three words: cake, cake, cake. And french macarons, of course. Enjoy the sweetest luxuries by preparing a variety of cakes and cupcakes with light pink frosting. Bake or grab some french macarons from Trader Joe’s or Laduree for the ultimate “treat yourself” moment. Of course, if you’re looking to add healthy options to your spread, a variety of fruits will pair beautifully with tea and wine.
The Ambiance
Think pearls, fresh flowers, and gold accents. When recreating the ambiance of a french tea party, remember that pastel colors and bouquets of flowers can go a long way in transforming your space. Hosting in an apartment? No problem! A few inexpensive decorations and classical music playing in the background will do wonders. The most important part: the tea cups of course! These are our favorites… not only are the teacups uber chic, this set does not break the bank.
The Tea
Care for a cup of tea? Whether you prefer English Breakfast or Chamomile Tea, complete your tea party with a cup or two of whatever you fancy! Don’t forget the milk and sugar. Not into tea? Coffee goes great with a piece of cake as well.
The Wine
Rosé all day! If you are 21 or over and are looking for a way to spice up your Marie Antoinette inspired afternoon, head to store to pick up a bottle of French Rosé for you and your friends to enjoy. A couple of our favorite bottles include Fleur de Mer French Rosé Wine and Château D'Esclans Whispering Angel Rosé Wine.
The Outfits
Whether it be a floral print blouse or a white sundress, be sure to wear something flouncy and feminine. Shop some of our tea party approved clothing items here.
