Gifting a Vacation in 2020
I’m sure everyone has heard enough about travel restrictions for the year, but as we approach holiday time, the conversation can be difficult to ignore.
A vacation is a common holiday gift that is exciting to both give and receive, but this year, it may not be possible to take your scheduled trip as immediately as you hope. This said, most of us could use something to look forward to, so it would be disappointing at the least to rule out vacation gifting all together. Luckily, we don’t have to. Here are a few ways to make a gifted trip just as exciting to open as any other year!
#1: Put More Effort Into the Wrapping
As with any gift, presentation is everything. Yes, technically it’s the thought that counts, but how much more fun is it to open a gift that looks pretty? The answer is: a lot. Use personalized wrapping paper, top the box with evergreen branches and twine, or maybe even turn the unboxing into a scavenger hunt!
#2: Include Some Travel Essentials
If you don’t like the idea of giving just proof of booking and a few flight tickets, add a few inexpensive physical products. These might include a passport cover, an airport-friendly toiletry bag, travel sized beauty products, or a neck pillow and eye mask.
#3: Prepare an Itinerary
Nothing adds to the excitement for an upcoming vacation like a sneak peek at all that the destination has to offer. Prepare an itinerary on fun stationary like this. Look into booking a spa trip, a boat ride (if traveling to a warm climate), a zipline or ropes course, craft beer or wine tasting, and dinner at a nice restaurant in the area. If you’re looking to save as much money as possible, do some research and find a pretty hiking trail nearby or anywhere to immerse yourselves in the beauty of the area!
#4: Get Creative with Vouchers
Include a voucher in the packaging to be redeemed at a sooner date. Maybe it contains a budget for a new luggage set, a vacation wear shopping spree, a manicure and pedicure, or a pair of gym memberships or class packages at his/her favorite workout studio.
As always, be sure to travel safely whenever you get the chance. Happy gifting!
