Alive in Art Deco

The art deco era was made for anyone in the world who loved deeply, fearlessly, and without measure. This time period was when everything suddenly became more interesting in the creative aspect of careers. Artists became more inspired, artistry became more pronounced in the world, and the message behind creativity became more meaningful.

Art became life to creators and the inspired voices across the globe in the 1920s and 1930s. Passions persisted and people across the world began to come alive. Art inspired a revolution to rebel to brighter times. Art forms became more authentic, and creativity had more charisma in society. The mundane became inspired again.

This historic time was when the ideas of the greatest creators came alive, one of them being F Scott Fitzgerald who wrote The Great Gatsby. This novel changed the way that art was absorbed into the modern world.

The Great Gatsby was set in the Jazz Age starring Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan as the two main stars of the story. Together they had an epic love story that would stand the test of time. Jay Gatsby begins his journey in New York chasing the one he loves most, Daisy. She was known as a wealthy socialite in high society, while Jay remained in his billionaire status in the city. This story was set in the summer of 1922 in New York City where Nick Carraway, Jay Gatsby, and Daisy Buchanan all slowly became victims of love, heartbreak, and tragedy.

This book is considered a cult classic in society today. The roaring 20’s inspired a new version of the 20th century in 2021. This spectacular story is still being told today as a melancholy masterpiece. My love for this novel stems from the idea that there is a reason for every season in society. Each step we take in our lives leads us to new opportunities. Whether they are helpful or harmful, we still grow as a result. This story reminds me to never give up on happiness despite the sometimes harsh circumstances the world presents to us in the present. I try to remember a better time where everything was more free, similar to the storyline. I look to the art deco era for inspiration.
