5 Gorgeous Holiday Setups Across the United States

There are many towns throughout the country that decorate beautifully for the holidays. For me, New York City is my #1 destination. Seeing the Rockefeller tree, walking through the decorated streets – it’s all very magical.

Aside from New York, I’m going to take you through 5 places that have gorgeous holiday setups that will hopefully leave you with a desire to visit next year!

First is Park City, Utah! Park City is a famous town known for skiing, and is nestled in the tall mountains. The snow-capped mountains can send you into the holiday spirit alone! When in Park City, there are holiday markets, sleigh rides, and other winter activities for you (and whoever you’re traveling with) to enjoy!

Next is Essex, Connecticut! There are a tremendous number of towns in New England filled with people that truly know how to decorate for the holidays. Friends of mine have been to Essex and say that the feeling they feel during the holiday season is magical there. They have a “North Pole Express” and holiday train show that you can go to, as well as a small holiday village where you can shop and watch a beautiful light show. While I’ve never been, I’m now dying to go!

Third is Ann Arbor, Michigan! While Ann Arbor is famously known to house University of Michigan, the holiday vibe there is immaculate. There are tons of holiday-themed events that the public can attend – some include outdoor markets, lantern parades, s’mores, live music, and more. An event that Ann Arbor is known to host is a “sing-along with Santa,” presented by a symphony orchestra based in Ann Arbor.

Chicago, Illinois comes in at number four! While the Windy City itself hosts a massive amount of holiday lights shows, each are truly unique. There is a Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo (very unique) and the St. Lucia Festival of Lights. If you don’t want to walk through a light show, you can also do the Chicago Holiday Lights tour on a Segway! The Christmas tree lighting at Millennium Park brings in hundreds to thousands of people from around the world to see the city wrapped in lights and to feel a warm holiday spirit! Lastly, Chicago homes Christkindlmarket, the second largest German Christmas market, following Germany.

Last on my list is Washington, D.C. Georgetown GLOW DC is a large exhibition of outdoor public light installations, which attracts visitors from all over the country and brings everyone in the area to a Christmas spirit. In D.C., you can also watch the National Christmas Tree be lit up, or go on a Holiday Lights Bus Tour, which brings you to the top destinations for holiday lights in the city.

There you have it! Your 5 destinations await for you to visit them at a safe time (be sure to read about travel guidelines)!

Safe travels and Happy Holidays!
