Model Off-Duty Style: The Instagram Roundup
“Model off-duty” - fashion’s favorite word to throw around to describe the put-together yet undone, stylish yet effortless, perfect polished yet messy vibe usually seen on leggy 5’10 (or taller) women.
Trust me when I say that if you’re a vicarious stalker of the #nyfw hashtag, perusing to see what models are rocking before, between and after the shows, you aren’t alone. Although NYFW will look a little different for Fall 2020, you can be sure that Instagram will be flooded with fabulous pictures of OOTDs that were meant to be seen on the streets.
Since we’ve all been stuck at home for the past few months, “model-off-duty” has taken on a brand new meaning. Though we haven’t been graced with paparazzi photos of post-casting outfits, the casual button down that Gigi Hadid rocks in a post-Zoom selfie is just as much “model-off-duty” as Elsa Hosk lounging around her house in colorful two-piece sets. Keep scrolling for an Instagram round-up of my favorite model-off-duty looks! Notable trends include low-slung trousers, claw clipped hair, baguette bags, oversized tailored blazers, the classic all-white button down and bonus - a trend that Vogue refers to as “little shirt, big pants,” most recently seen on Katie Holmes down below (not a model, but such a fan of the off-duty look.)

Whether you’ve been pulling out your fanciest shoes to parade around the house or living in comfy sundresses all summer long, there are easy ways to recreate these laid-back trends from the clothes you already have. I’m partial to the wide-legged pant because constrictive denim is just not the way to go when you’re working from home. I channeled my favorite model-off-duty looks with high-waisted vintage flare jeans, matching denim platforms (legs for days!), a camisole tank and a vintage Guess mini bag. Who says you can’t dress up with nowhere to go?
