How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe
Building a capsule closet can be a fun way to redefine your personal style and hone in on shapes, patterns, and colors that really suit you.
The idea of a capsule wardrobe, according to Business of Fashion, is to create a closet filled with essential clothes that transcend seasons. To me, a capsule wardrobe means investing in my looks that are the most well-made, high-quality, and can be worn all year long.
Let’s talk about how to build a capsule wardrobe. Where do you start?
I like to start with Pinterest. Feel free to check out my board for inspiration “Window-Shopping,” which is sectioned into dresses, outerwear, accessories, etc., so that I can find what I need when I need it. Building your own Pinterest board is a great way to see what items you most regularly gravitate towards and from that, you can start to assess your personal style.
The next thing to do is to sort through your existing closet to see what you already own. Do you have the basics that you are adding to your inspiration board? Do you have more or less color in your closet? What’s missing? Once you answer some of these questions, have a clear vision of what you want, and know exactly what you have, you can be intentional when building your capsule wardrobe over time.
