Fashion Icons: NY vs. LA
It’s no secret that celebrity fashion is a different type of fashion. Not only because it’s uber expensive, but us non-celebs could probably never pull these looks off as well as they do. So, let’s take a look at some of the latest fashion icons and the styles they prefer in New York versus Los Angeles.
First we have Rihanna. An absolute goddess in whatever she decides to strut.
Her New York fashion is comfy yet stylish - something we can all get on board with! We love a good loose tank-palazzo pant combo.
In LA, Rihanna pairs skinny ripped blue jeans with a gorgeous sequin blazer, sporting only a bralette underneath. To add some more bling to this casual fit, she models silver open-toed heels.
Our next queen is the one and only: Zendaya.
Zendaya has been known to be very creative in her fashion endeavors, which is one of the many reasons we love her so much!
In New York, she shows off a snake skin pant suit and all I can say is I wish I had the confidence to rock that! Simple, yet elegant, and like I stated above: creative.
LA Zendaya is very relaxed; strolling the streets in tan cropped flare pants, accented by a plain white tee. Her glasses and natural hair complete this casual ensemble.
Next up: Kendall Jenner.
Kendall is known for her natural look, and like all others on this list, can make any outfit work.
In NY, she struts casually with a gorgeous camel jacket, layered over a cream turtleneck and black pants. This look is made complete with matching Nikes. This is an OOTD I can get behind!
Her LA style is spunky, donning black ripped mom jeans held with a simple belt, topped off with the cutest little bandeau. Hair tied in a bun, chic sunglasses on, ready to take on the LA sunshine.
Let’s bring some kings into the mix. I present to you: Harry Styles.
Maybe it’s because of his last name or maybe it’s just because British men always seem to dress better, whatever it is - Harry definitely has style.
From his preppy NY look, to his nonchalant sweatshirt and shorts in LA, there’s no doubt that the singer is a fashion icon and will be for years to come.
Next up: Justin. Bieber. Need I say more?
Justin’s style pretty much remains the same no matter where he’s at these days: baggy shirts and shorts, with messy hair and some weird looking shoes on his feet. But hey, he rocks it, and he looks incredibly comfy. He can be seen representing his own brand, “Drew,” or brands of close friends, such as Kanye West’s Yeezy.
Next have the queen of trendsetting: Taylor Swift.
Taylor’s looks have always reflected the type of music she is working on. From the upbeat style “Welcome to New York” brings, to the soft, chill haze of “Daylight,” Taylor is always rocking her look.
We’ll end this iconic list with the queen of making oversized clothing look good: Ariana Grande.
In New York, Ari can be seen cozied up in a baggy coat with her famous knee-high boots and, of course, her hat has to have two little poms mimicking her beloved pigtails.
LA brings out the artist's chill side, as Ari is seen sporting baggy high-waisted jeans with a simple zip-up cropped tank. She ties this outfit together with combat boots and her classic high pony.
If there’s anything I learned while comparing the looks between the Big Apple and LA, it’s that blue jeans are definitely encouraged on the West Coast. Which looks are your favorites?
