DIY: Hand Dye To Perfection
Inspired by LoveShackFancy’s enchanting dip-dyed styles, I created my own versions of summertime happiness using basic white cotton pieces in desperate need of a cheerful makeover. You’ll DYE over this easy project with beautiful results!
What You’ll Need:
100% cotton items (we dyed dresses, tops, loungewear and socks from Target… the possibilities are endless!)
RIT Dye (we used the colors Rose Quartz and Aquamarine)
A large bucket or empty tote
Plastic Gloves
Step 1: Fill an empty tote or large bucket with cold water and let sit in the sun for a while (we waited around 2 hours).
Step 2: Add desired amount of dye to the water and stir. Start with a small amount... remember you can always build! Use an old dishcloth or towel to test the mixture until you get your desired color.
Step 3: It’s time to strap on those gloves! Dip the 100% cotton piece into the mixture. Let submerge for 1-4 minutes, depending on how bold you want the color to be.
Step 4: Let air-dry for a few hours to let the dye set in.
Step 5: Wash in the washing machine for a short rinse cycle and let air-dry again.
Enjoy your stunning hand-dyed piece!
