Live Bare and Be Rare
Beauty is defined in many ways. To me,
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” - Margaret Wolfe Hungerford
In an industry that is ever-changing, no one ever asks us as people what makes you feel beautiful? It seems like a weird question, but if someone asked you to list everything in the world you loved, how long would it take to say yourself? Loving yourself fearlessly in a world that tries to tell you to hate everything that makes you who you are is a bold statement to make. This is where the journey to self-love starts. Self-love is something that can never be stolen. Even when the days are dark, it is the thing that pulls you through to bring you to brighter times ahead.
In my experience, I feel most beautiful when I’m doing the things that inspire me most. Writing, painting, meditating, spending time by the ocean, etc. Doing the things that light my soul on fire inspire me to create more in my day-to-day life, and feel content with being my most bare, vulnerable self when facing the day. Embracing the bare side of beauty in a very vain world can seem scary, yet the most rewarding.
Beauty can be sitting alone on a Sunday in your apartment, on-the-go getting glam before an interview, browsing at a cosmetic counter for your favorite concealer, etc. Beauty is beyond just being busy. Beauty can be anywhere that you are. I love keeping things minimalistic/simplistic when it comes to my makeup routine to showcase my natural features. For me, my routine revolves around my makeup collection for the day. I lean towards buttery shadows, bare skin, a bronze base, and a polished pout. Makeup brands that I’m loving right now are Huda Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills, L'oréal, Maybelline, and Covergirl. When purchasing new products, I love mixing and matching higher end products with more affordable finds to add variety to my collection. I like to experiment with new items, while sticking with my favorite makeup staples. This allows me to become more knowledgeable on changing makeup trends, new releases, and brand launches within the beauty community overall.
The art of makeup is centered around experimentation and fun. Cosmetics should be something to explore and create with, not an added chore. Makeup can be really anything you want it to be, it's all up to you what you decide to create.
