Making the Iconic C&W Watercolor Cake

Do you really think we could celebrate one whole year of CLOTHES & WATER without a cake? Never.

Follow these steps to decorate your very own C&W Watercolor Cake just like @frostedbyshan!

The Cake

IMG_2964.jpg
  1. Make or buy a vanilla cake mix and split evenly into two pans.

  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes.

  3. Let cakes cool completely and flip out of pans.

  4. Fill and stack your cakes with your desired filling.

Ex: Pudding, whipped cream, Chocolate frosting.

  5. Crumb coat your cake with vanilla frosting.

  6. Set in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes.

  7. Frost your cake in a thick layer of vanilla frosting.

  8. Set back in the fridge to chill again for another 30-45 minutes

  9. Once the cake has been chilled, it’s time to decorate!

  10. Swipe color onto the plain white cake with a palette knife and repeat until you have “painted” the cake with all 3 colors. (Feel free to get creative and messy!)

  11. Once the cake has been painted to your liking, take a cake smoother and run it along the edges of your cake until you’ve created a watercolor effect.

  12. Finish it off with a simple piping on top with whichever saying you choose!

Watercolor Frosting

  1. Make (or buy!) vanilla buttercream frosting.

Tip: for looser more watercolor effect add milk to your frosting in small increments until you reach your desired consistency.

  2. Split frosting into three separate bowls.

  3. Dye frosting three different shades of blue and set aside.

Lastly, serve with a little rose & enjoy!
